Pat has grown up with and raised German shepherd dogs, huskies, beagles and collies. She started training dogs on a part-time basis in 1978. Her education includes a BS in secondary education and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). She is a graduate of the Animal Behavior Center of New York (ABCNY) and regularly attends behavior and training conferences sponsored by the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT), International Association of Animal Behavior Counselors (IAABC), Professional Animal Behavior Association (PABA) in addition to numerous hands-on workshops with Dr. Ian Dunbar, Dr. Patricia McConnell, Jean Donaldson, Dr. Wayne Hunthausen, Trish King and Steve White.
Pat is a member of the Association of Companion Animal Behavior Counselors as well as an active member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers where she is a member of the Think Tank committee and has received national certification. She is also on the board of the Greater Philadelphia Dog Fancier's Association and is approved to train and test dogs for Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification. She is a strong advocate of positive training methods/behavioral techniques and believes in offering customized training that is tailored to the individual dog and his family. Pat is a certified clinical member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants. Pat was selected by Philadelphia's City Paper as "2002 Best Therapist For Your Best Friend." She enjoys spending her winter vacations dog sledding with her husband and sled dogs 6-day sledding trip in Denali Park, Alaska (at the base of Mt. McKinley). Pat regularly makes television appearances. She has offered canine behavior tips on Friday mornings between 6 - 6:30am on CBS Channel 3's "45 Seconds to a Better Pet."
