Patricia has grown up with and raised German shepherd dogs, huskies and collies. She started training dogs on a full-time basis in 2001. Her education includes a BS in secondary education and an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). She is a graduate of the former Animal Behavior Center of New York (ABCNY) and regularly attends behavior and training conferences sponsored by the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT), International Association of Animal Behavior Counselors (IAABC), Professional Animal Behavior Association (PABA) in addition to numerous hands-on workshops with Dr. Ian Dunbar, Dr. Patricia McConnell, Jean Donaldson, Dr. Wayne Hunthausen, and Trish King.
Patricia is a certified clinical member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants as well as a certified (Knowledge-Assessed) member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers where she has served as a member of the Think Tank Committee. She is also on the Board of the Greater Philadelphia Dog Fancier’s Association and is approved to train and test dogs for Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification /AKC S.T.A.R. puppy. She is a strong advocate of positive training methods/behavioral techniques and believes in offering customized training that is tailored to the individual dog and his/her family.
Patricia was selected by Philadelphia’s City Paper as “Best Therapist For Your Best Friend.” She enjoys spending her winter vacations dog sledding with her husband and highly recommends her 6-day sledding trip in Denali Park, Alaska (at the base of Mt. McKinley). She is a strong advocate of the national sport of K9 Nose Work™ (scent detection for pets!) and is a certified instructor who has trained under the sport’s founders – Ron Gaunt, Amy Herot & Jill O’Brien.
Pat has offered canine behavior tips on CBS Channel 3’s “45 Seconds to a Better Pet.” She was also featured on an episode of Animal Planet’s Pet Stories.
