The very popular "Lug-Nuts" event will be held the *second weekend* in October. Dogs compete against one another by pulling bags of dog food on sleds. HOT WEATHER HEAT EXHAUSTION & STROKE
Initial signs include rapid panting, muscle weakness, staggering, rapid heartbeat, fainting, tremors and vomiting. Heat stroke requires emergency care. Pet Evacuation Act is Passed!
On May 22 the U.S. House of Representatives passed the
Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards (PETS) Act, H.R. 3858, which
requires state and local emergency management agencies to make plans that
take into account the needs of individuals with pets and service animals
in the event of a major disaster or emergency. The legislation passed
by a vote of 349 to 24.
